Hello!

"My background is in the NHS where I worked as an Occupational Therapist for 18 years in a variety of mental health settings, predominately working alongside those with severe mental health problems. I trained in Human Givens Therapy in 2000 and I feel that this training transformed my effectiveness as a Therapist. The highly scientific nature of the training deeply developed my understanding of the brain as well as the mind/body connection and the innate power for change we all have. It also made me realise that the level of severe distress that I have seen people in is absolutely preventable with the right help.

During my NHS experience I had the privilege of introducing the Human Givens ideas into a Women’s mental health service which I co-managed. I saw first-hand how people with even the most severe trauma, neglect and subsequent highly self-destructive behaviours can begin to regain control and self respect with research based, scientific methods.

I have therefore loved working with children and adolescents (in CAMHS, schools, youth work teams and in private practice) to help build their emotional resilience and ‘tools for success’ which are amazingly empowering and can prevent future emotional difficulties.

Further evidence of the effectiveness of the techniques encompassed within the Human Givens Approach came to me following the natural and calm births of my own two children where I was able to apply these for myself. The work continues on a daily basis now with parenting!! I would be absolutely delighted to share you with some of what I have learnt in the hope that you can make changes in your life that bring more fulfilment, calmness and success.

I live in Hassocks with my husband and two children. I love jogging and cycling in the beautiful South Downs and drawing on the amazing power of yoga to pursue a sense of balance!

Please do contact me for an initial chat, to discuss your situation and decide if this is the right approach for you, with no commitment to make an appointment" - Emily Gajewski.
